Kevin Pieterson’s 140 charactered heroics on Twitter made the ECB find him guilty on two charges and had English cricket’s poster boy attend a disciplinary hearing on Monday. The 30 year old, got himself in trouble after making a controversial post in his twitter account.

His recent tweet, following his omission from the squad for the T20 International against Pakistan read “Done for rest of summer!! Man of the World Cup T20 and dropped from the T20 side too. It’s a f**k up!!” The English selectors had considered dropping KP from the T20 squad owing to his slump of form with the bat and instead were keen on dispatching him to Surrey. Pieterson in his official Twitter account named ‘kevinpp24’ posted the above mentioned comment and within a few minutes decided to delete it, but by then the damage was done as the post was picked up by several users and circulated in the internet.

The recently concluded hearing on Monday found KP’s comments as a breach of the England Player’s conditions of employment and imposed a monetary fine on him, the amount of which is yet to be disclosed to the media.

England cricketer and Hampshire captain, 32 year old Dmitri Mascarenhas was also found guilty of abusing the ‘social media’ freedom put forth by Twitter when he posted abusive comments on the site and launched a stinging attack on Geoff Miller, the national selector.

Mascarenhas vented his ire against Miller as he posted, “Chairman of selectors came to Liverpool and didn’t even come and say hi…What a p****… Doesn’t take much to say hello does it?” Mascarenhas was dealt with by his county Hampshire who imposed a 1000 UK Pounds fine on the 32 year old.

Despite these indiscretions ECB hasn’t considered putting a ban on the use of Twitter. In the recent England squad James Anderson, Steven Finn and Tim Bresnan are active Twitter users and haven’t met yet with any major controversies with their 140 character tweets.
