David Villa Equals The All-time Spain’s Leading Goal Scorer Raul

David Villa

David Villa

Barcelona striker David Villa takes his goal tally to 44 after netting the ball past the goal keeper in the 66th minute in the match against Scotland this Tuesday. The player who started his International carrier in 2005 had to wait for 9 months and finally scored a goal in his 4th appearance (16 November 2005) against Slovakia.
The striker who is such a big name in the International football was hit by a serious injury at his age of 4 when he broke his Femur, but he recovered from it completely. He has made such a mark in his international football he is called as an ambidextrous footballer.  Thanks to his dad who supported him at his bad times because of which the whole could take the pleasure of watching such an astonishing talent.

He often nick named as EL Guaje (the kid in Asturian) is undoubtedly the Best Spanish Striker. Since the time he scored his first goal for Spain in 2005 then there was no stopping this player. He then later scored some wonderful and important goals and become one of the pioneers behind the success of Spain’s national team. His top form forced the coach Luis Aragones to make him the first choice over Raul, before successfully inheriting his famous No. 7 jersey long term. Ever since then, Villa has consistently been on the rise, picking up the Golden Boot at Euro 2008 with four goals and finishing as joint-top scorer at the 2010 World Cup, a tournament where he netted five times.

He holds some fantastic records in his International carrier for Spain.

  • Most international goal 44 – David Villa and Raul.
  • Most goals scored in one season 13 – David Villa (2008–2009)
  • Most consecutive games ended with at least one goal 6 – David Villa
  • Top scorer in World Cup finals 8 – David Villa
  • Most goals scored in one World Cup 5 – David Villa (2010) & Emilio Butragueño (1986)
  • Most goals scored in consecutive matches at World Cup 4 – David Villa (2010)

Most important of all he has scored his 44 goals in juts 68 caps which take his goal scoring average to 0.64 when compared to the 102 matches of Raul. The player after scoring his 44th goal said “my next objective isn’t scoring number 45 – I want to score loads more than that because I want to stay in the squad for many years”

The passion and commitment of Villa towards the game and coupled by the good wishes of his fans throughout the world; David Villa scoring more goals in his carrier is definitely slated to happen.

Good Luck David Villa!!!!
