Suranjoy Singh

Guangzhou, Nov 16: Suranjoy Singh gave a brilliant start to Indian Boxing event, here in Asian Games, as he reached to the pre-quarterfinals of the tournament by having a solid win over Thailand’s Chatchai Butdee, on Tuesday. The 24 year old young Suranjoy who is from Manipur, has a very good background where he earlier won seven international gold medals since April 2009, easily won his match over Butdee by thrashing him with 7-2, and gave a winning start in the opening match of Indian Boxing in the event at the Foshan Gymnasium.

He was very fresh and energetic by winning the previous gold in Commonwealth Games. So it was not so hard for him to be in rhythm and touch and was very brave in his movements and successfully dodged the opponent’s moves sharply. At the start of game, he closely looked up for three minutes to his rival, and then in between he fired his bullets of punches with a left hook, and easily overtook the Butdee. In the second around, Suranjoy didn’t go aggressive and waited for the opponent to start the move. As Butdee was making his move strongly, Indian player did counter attack on him and gained two precious points.

Butdee, who is South East Asian gold medallist, gone out for everything in the final three minutes of the game by having aggressive attacks. But Suranjoy was brave enough to take the good advantage of his lazy and weak defence, and went on to score points through uppercuts and body punches. “I didn’t really have to be attacking and over confidence as my body was stiff and calm as regular, and in the end it was pretty easy for me to win the match. I was little slammed back by the opponent by his thrashing punches in the last minutes of game, which caused me two points down. If I would have been well enough to defend that, then I would have won the game by clean sweep” said Suranjoy.

Hello everyone this is Ronak Parekh and I’m currently student of S.Y.B.M.M. I’m 20 years old from Mumbai. I choose my career in B.M.M because I always wanted to do something which is of my interest. And my passion has always been sports especially cricket and F1. I really want to be linked with sports in my future. B.M.M course gives the opportunity in journalism from where I can move to sports category. When I was child I always used to play and watch cricket a lot which usually most of the people does. I gained my interest in F1 due to only one man and that was none other than seven time world champion Michael Schumacher. Actually I’m also very passionate about cars so it is really fun when I see this sport. Today I’m really excited about getting an opportunity to do internship for three months with the sports mirror, where I will have full freedom to express my views and opinions regarding every sport. I definitely will try my best to write the articles as good as possible which would be worth interesting for readers. I really whole heartedly thanking the sports mirror again for giving me this vital opportunity and I promise I will make the most of it.
