Sighting Beyond ‘The Impossible’!

Alessandro Del Piero

Alessandro Del Piero

One of Italy’s greatest football players & the outright top striker of the Italian football league ‘Alessandro Del Piero’ achieved the impossible by scoring the 179th goal of his league career. The previous record was 178 goals which many people believed was impossible break, but, Del Piero proved all of them wrong. “I never thought that I would break the record, I just wanted to play & enjoy football” he said & later expressed his desire to achieve the unprecedented feat by saying, “Now my aim is to arrive at 200 goals before I retire, you should always set yourselves new objectives”.

The record of 178 goals was set by the legendary Italian striker ‘Giampiero Boniperti’ who is listed among the greatest strikers ever. Boniperti scored all goals playing for the ‘Turin’ club ‘Juventus’ & retired in 1961 setting a milestone behind him. Juventus fans & supporters across the world were extremely happy by the fact that the record set by a ‘Juventus’ legend was broken by the club’s most prolific striker & that the record wouldn’t go away from the club for several years as nobody in world football today is even close to the huge tally.

Del Piero is optimistic about his wish to complete the unthinkable feat of 200 goals but experts around the globe think that it is an over-statement. Del Piero, 35, has hardly 1-2 seasons left in his club career. The club already requires goal scorers who are younger, sharper and faster than him. Even if the club shows faith in him there is very little possibility that the veteran striker will be fit to play in the very physical league in Italy at this age. The world has seen great players like ‘Fabio Cannavaro’, ‘Ryan Giggs’, ‘Pavel Nedved’ etc. losing their form after crossing the 32 year mark. The odds are highly stacked against Del Piero & it would require a great effort by him to achieve the feat he is eyeing for.

Del Piero is certainly not listening to the critics because the people who are appreciating him today doubted his ability to achieve the 178 goal feat. His optimistic attitude & a glorious career experience will be his basic strengths to overcome this obstacle, but, the words spoken by his critics will act as fuel to ignite the fire inside him & we will hopefully witness a performance that will create a milestone too big to beat.

My name is Akshay Kulkarni, 19 years old studying in M.V.L.U college. Life interests me a lot, the way it works and proves how it is bigger than anything else in the world. As a BMM student I should be observing, analyzing and interpreting what’s going around, but, I am more interested in asking why and how things are happening. I try my best to keep my personal opinions, moods and feelings away from my way of thinking as influence of these things can deviate me away from knowing the truth behind things.I have a very unique way of looking at things; I think it’s my strength and my identity. I always try to express my ideas in any form possible i.e on paper, verbally, in sounds and movies. I believe in my ideas and I am always in quest for people who are interested in understanding them rather than opposing them.
