Mario Balotelli, the guy who started off with a reputation of being a strong, powerful and muscular athlete but now has reduced to a Page-3 celebrity, claims that Rooney is not the best striker in Manchester.
People were yet to digest his statement, in which he said that only Messi is a better player than him in the world; just when the outspoken Italian came up with yet another delicious comment saying that Rooney is not even the best striker in Manchester, let alone the world.
In an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he said: “He [Rooney] is a very good player but not the best in Manchester.” Adding that United fans desperately want him to join their club, he said: “Do United fans insult me? No, they stop me in the street and say: ‘Mario, come to us’. But I dream of beating them because I know how much the City fans care, they are wonderful with me. When they sang my name after the hat-trick, I had chills.”
Balotelli has just added more sparks to the United – City rivalry and it will be interesting to see how the Old Trafford faithful react to his comments when the two sides meet on 20th February at Old Trafford.
He added that City boasts the best attack in the world in the form of Tevez, himself and Dzeko. The delusional Italian went to the extent of saying that his side is better than the Spanish giants, Real Madrid and Barcelona. “Our attack of Balotelli-Tevez-Dzeko is the best in the world – better even than Barcelona and Real Madrid. We are the strongest and we can win things now – we just lack conviction. Adam Johnson has great technique and Emmanuel Adebayor is the funniest. Patrick Vieira and Aleksandr Kolarov really helped me out when I first arrived.”
Speaking on his latest scandal, Balotelli said “England is far ahead of the rest in terms of stadia and far behind in terms of its media. The newspapers are just trash. All I can say about Sophie is that I saw her once and she started bombarding me with messages, while one of her friends was far more interesting to me.”
The Italian didn’t stop there. He went a step ahead to taunt his former boss at Inter, Jose Mourinho. “Mourinho is the best coach in the world, but as a man he still needs to learn manners and respect,” said Balotelli.
Out of all the crap he said, the only thing I can make out is that the guy needs to get his mathematics right. His team has scored just 37 goals in all competitions this season, 8 goals behind Arsenal’s 45, 6 behind United’s 43 and one goal behind Chelsea’s total of 38. Compared to the 47 and 61 goals scored by Real and Barca, each having played four matches less than City, one can just hope that in the future, Balotelli gets his mathematical comparisons checked by an expert before he gives an interview.
