So Who’s Preparing The Best For The ICC Cricket World Cup?

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

With just over 39 days to go for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 to start, all the teams would be vying to set the tone for ‘The Cup that Matters’. India which shall be playing South Africa in the first ODI on the 12th shall be looking to give all its youngsters a chance in the first three ODI’s to prove their mettle, before the Indian squad for the World Cup gets announced on the 19th of January.

However the past has shown that the penultimate series before the World Cup doesn’t really have an effect on the Indian team. A few former cricketers have gone on to say that the World Cup is not always won by the team which might look formidable on paper. Thus it’s more important that the players keep themselves fit and mentally relaxed before the World cup so that they can give in their best during the tournament.

This is one of the reasons that M S Dhoni has decided to relax Praveen Kumar who is suffering from a minor injury. It is also suspected that Sreesanth who is also suffering from a minor injury shall be missing the first ODI in Kingsmead, Durban.

While the Indian team is busy preparing in South Africa, other teams would also be hoping that their last minute preparations before the World Cup come good. While Pakistan is busy in New Zealand, Australia and England shall be fighting it out in a seven match series. Sri Lanka has already announced its team for the World Cup.

The ICC too is doing its every bit to build the atmosphere before the World Cup. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 song which goes like “De Ghuma Ke” has been released in all radio stations and shall soon be released on television as well. This song has been composed by the trio Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board too has started selling the tickets, from the 1st of January, for the matches to be held in the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. However the exact number of ticket’s that will be sold for the general public is uncertain.

Similarly the matches to be held in the Indian stadiums as well shall not provide its entire capacity for the general public as some of the tickets are reserved for the ICC as well as the local members of the concerned state boards.

Hello everyone. I'm a student of Heritage Institute of Technology. Although I'm not very athletic, like every other Indian I've always loved to play cricket. In fact at a given point of time I had serious thoughts of becoming a cricketer. Never mind my namesake is doing great guns at the highest level and I think I'm pretty satisfied with writing articles on the very game which has happened to be my passion right from childhood . I would share whatever little I know about the fascinating game and try and provide facts as well as a cohesive analysis of the latest from the game. Thanks for the opportunity!
