Bayern Munich: In The Last Seven Days

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich

After a dream last minute goal by Mario Gomez, Bayern Munich fans must have felt that the tough times were over this season. Fans and Bayern president Uli Hoeness echoed their sentiments that they would beat Borussia Dortmund and could very well be in the running for an unprecedented 23rd German title. Seven days since then Bayern Munich club which is one of the top 5 clubs in the world has let his fans keep reeling as they have lost 3 consecutive games in the last week,  with a danger of missing out on the Champions League and Bayern manager Louis van Gaal’s  job in serious jeopardy. Bayern Munich need to go on a winning streak.

Bayern Munich 1 – 3 Borussia Dortmund – Fatigue in their legs after a tiring game against the European champions Bayern had to be at their very best attacking prowess to win this one after a goal conceded in just the first six minutes, new boy Luis Gustavo equalized but Nuri Sahin and forgotten son Mats Hummels, came of age to beat the German champions but even the best team this season preferred to defend their league against the Bavarians a start of a bad week for Bayern, but they knew they could set it right against Dortmund rivals Schalke in the DFB Cup semi-finals at home.

Bayern Munich 0 – 1 Schalke FC – A goal by the legend was enough for Schalke to secure a spot in Berlin, at the expense of the German cup champions,  another superb performance by the exemplary Bayern bound Manuel Neuer proved that, Bayern needed to buck up in order to qualify for the Champions League.

Hannover  3 – 1 Bayern Munich –  Bayern were played out of the park by the team who was expected to be beaten and nowhere expected to be in the top 3 , a tired Bayern just wouldn’t be able to capitalize Bastian Schweinsteiger was sorely missed.  Many pundits announced that Bayern won’t be getting any Champions League action next season, a bit too early to say that?

Bayern Munich have played 5 games in the last two weeks all against strong teams, and with minimum rotation in the players, the team was bound to be affected by fatigue, but now a week for the next match Bayern will have enough rest for the game against Hamburger SV and are favored to win with seven points behind second place and five points behind Hannover. It’s too early to rule Bayern out of a Champions League spot, and sacking of Louis van Gaal won’t help in any way as it will be very difficult to adapt to a new management , the best thing would be to stick with Louis van Gaal discover a plan B cut the under-performers from the squad and fight for your life, as a place in Europe is absolutely necessary for the club who has been at the pinnacle of the sport since its inception.  Bayern fans don’t ever forget – ‘Form is temporary, Class is permanent.
