It s said that a bowler’s 5 wickets, is equal to a batsmen’s century.

That what Lasith Malinga achieved when he took 5 wickets against the Delhi Daredevils and restricting the new look Delhi side for 95. The Mumbai Indians managed to apply heavy pressure at the start of Delhi innings due to Lasith Malinga’s two quick wickets of David Warner and U Chand. Both bowled and beaten by pace.

Malinga’s struck the timber for the third time beating the Venu Gopal Rao’s willow and Morne Morkel was next to miss Malinga’s perfect yorker. Malinga was able to pick his fifth wicket of Ashoke Dinda with a slower ball.

Taking wickets at the right time was the key for the Mumbai Indians and Malinga did the right thing by the taking 5 wickets, restricting Delhi at 95 and result, becoming the man of the match.

5 for 13 with a maiden is a remarkable bowling from Lasith Malinga , but not enough to beat Sohail Tanveer’s bowling figures of 6 for 14 in the first season of IPL.

Lasith Malinga was one of the players whom Mumbai Indians retained along with Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh and Kieron Pollard. This shows his importance in the team. His last year performance was also impressive, As he has continued to bowl well after the world cup, Mumbai Indians will really feel happy over their decision of retaining him.

Mumbai Indians will be on the seventh sky after Malinga’s performance. Thus it will give great benefit to the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming matches and on the other side it will be a course of concern for the remaining 9 IPL teams.
