Tiger Woods has his sight set on US open and expects his injuries to heal before US Open. Tiger Woods expects he will be “ready to go” for the US Open in mid-June despite injury problems with his knee, Achilles, calf and back. He has been using crutches and in a walking boot since his early exit from The Players Championship 12 days earlier.

The 35-year-old formerly world number one Woods won the last of his major titles at the 2008 US Open and has not won a tournament since the Australian Masters in 2009. Woods expects to start fitness training again by the end of the week but will not be able to start hitting balls again until he knows how his leg responds. Woods would go to the US Open, which starts from 16 June, with little practice. In 2008, he had arthroscopic surgery after the Masters and did not play again until the US Open but still won the tournament. He has won US Open on two more occasions in 2000 and 2002.

Woods returned to competition for the 2010 Masters on April 8, 2010 after he took indefinite break from the game due to his infidelity. Woods has been winless worldwide for 18 months, the longest streak without a title of his professional career. On October 31, 2010, Woods lost the world number one ranking to Lee Westwood. When he will come in US Open, he hopeful of winning the event fourth time.

Woods was sidelined from tournament play until May 12 by two leg injuries incurred in round three of the Masters. He entered the 2011 Players Championship, but withdrew after nine holes of the first round, with a score of +6, as his injuries caused him to limp noticeably. As of late May 2011, Woods is ranked 12 in the world. This is his lowest rank since the week before the 1997 Masters, more than 14 years ago.

Doctors had discovered a double stress fracture in his left tibia in the weeks before the major but Woods did not heed his doctor’s advice and played and won at Torrey Pines. Woods was forced to withdraw after only nine holes at The Players Championship this month. He has also fallen out of the world top 10 for the first time in 14 years. Woods stated that he hasn’t played, so he has fallen back. When he was playing, he didn’t give his optimum performance. He is expected to resurgence like the way he did in the year 2005-2007.
