People started to relax when they started to come across the itinerary that India will tour West Indies as they knew it would be a cakewalk. But the Indian cricket has always had a twist in the tale as a second rated Indian team was picked resting 6 World Cup winners of the Indian squad namely Dhoni, Sehwag, Tendulkar, Gambhir, Zaheer, Yuvraj. This new Indian team features 2 wicketkeepers and rightly so as this will test the batting and keeping skills for our team’s next wicketkeeper. So, both Parthiv and Saha will get the chance to play and that likely decides each other’s fate. The opening pair is a new look as Shikhar Dhawan and Parthiv Patel may get the nod. Both are slow starters but are capable of hitting the big ones too. Next in the line will be Raina, Kholi. Both of these have been the only youngsters performing to their full capabilities and now will have to bring in their world cup experience into action. Raina would not want the break the traditional Indian team formation which is 7-4. Among the 3 more batsman, Yusuf role will become important as he is expected to deliver as the 5th bowler. Now the next 2 spots is a battle between Badri, Rohit Sharma and Manoj Tiwari. Though the first two are most likely to make it, any slip could cost either of them dearly. There will be no use sending Badri at the end though as he is a batsman who can steady the ship and then counter-attack. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kholi are 2 stylish batsmen with similar technique but Kholi has been more consistent off late. The batting order more often than not will look like this:

Shikhar Dhwan, Parthiv Patel/Saha, Virat Kholi, Badri, Rohit, Raina,Yusuf.

Harbhajan will be the spearhead of the bowling attack. His statement for players to remain calm and focused shows his sign of experience. Pace bowling will be taken care of Praveen Kumar and Munaf Patel and there are no second thoughts. Both have been at their top level right now. The place for the 4th bowler could be a seamer or a spinner and that can vary depending on the pitch. In case of a turning track Raina would prefer variety and Mishra could ease in but in bouncy wickets Ishant Sharma has to be picked who is desperate to make his comeback in limited overs edition. Again these possibilities have to be decided very much through analysis and behavior of the pitch and conditions. This is where Duncan’s responsibility shoots up and if he mentors his young troops not only the series is pocketed, the benchmark of Indian Cricket is established.
