Champions League T20 – It’s Do Or Go Home In Group B

After Group A provided some enthralling action with wins for New South Wales and Trinidad & Tobago sending Chennai Super Kings and Cape Cobras crashing out of the tournament, Group B promises to provide an even more exciting finish with all five teams having a chance to go through to the semifinals.

Champions League T20 – It’s do or go home in Group B

The last day of the group stage will see Somerset taking on Warriors in the afternoon game while South Australia and Royal Challengers clash later on in the evening with both teams knowing what they will need to make it through to the knockouts. The Kolkata Knight Riders, though not in action, will be closely following the proceedings as their progress in the tournament lies on how these matches will fare.

Warriors have four points from their three games and will step onto the field knowing that they will go through unless they suffer a massive defeat while the equation for Somerset remains a win to go through. Somerset had their match against the Redbacks washed out and a Gayle day against Royal Challengers meant that Somerset now have their backs to the wall. A win would give them five points and would ensure qualification to the semifinals.

On the other hand, South Australia has three points from their three games after their match against Somerset was washed out while Royal Challengers are at the bottom of the table, their only win coming in the win over Somerset. But they will know that a close match in the afternoon game will boost their chances of going through, but for that they will need a huge win against the Australian outfit.

One team that remains helpless but would be glued to their television sets is Kolkata Knight Riders who sit on four points from their four games.  A win for Somerset and South Australia would definitely knock the Knight Riders out of the tournament while wins for Somerset and Royal Challengers would mean that it would all boil down to the Net Run Rate between Warriors and the two Indian teams.

With maths, equations and numbers coming into the picture, Wednesday promises to be a humdinger of a day but all one can do is sit back and enjoy a day of exciting cricket.
