Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi – Is their comparison a good or bad thing?

Football – a sport where every match creates a history or at least a funny topic to discuss about. A player may suddenly kick off two goals in his debut match and he will be considered as a messiah for the team or a player may continue to perform badly in 5-6 consecutive matches and he will be considered as a disaster. All in all football gives a healthy entertainment for 90 minutes and a topic to discuss upon for a week.

Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi - Is their comparison a good or bad thing?

Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi – Is their comparison a good or bad thing?

The most popular legacy or rather a case of history being repeated in this great sport is the case of Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi.

For those who don’t know or are beginners in football addiction Diego Maradona was a player and captain of one of the most prestigious football team of Argentina and presently is coaching the same team. Lionel Messi is presently the player and captain of the team giving us one down on the discussed topic.

Both of the above stated players had played for the Barcelona team in European Football League Championship and UEFA. Although rest of the history of the two players varies along, these topics kind of bind them together in front of the whole public.

People discuss a lot about this similarity and sometimes see Lionel Messi as a legend which may be good for his image but is not too good for his career because when people see you as a legend they think about you carrying on the legend. This leads to comparison on higher scale and one poor game means you’re finished.

Similarly, in case of Maradona, it may seem a weak choice if he selects Messi again and again on his team making the public guess that they might be close due to their somewhat similar history.

There is not much to discuss on this topic as it is the first ever case in football also that too persons have something so much similar as if they were themselves Lincoln and Roosevelt.

All in all, the comparison between Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona is as healthy for their career as it can plague them in that. But they will surely remain legends in the field of football and will always be remembered for their ironic similarity.
