Hero ISL joins hands with PGMOL for Referees’ Workshop




As part of its ambitious plan to develop the game of football in India across varied aspects of the sport, Hero Indian Super League have invited a three-member senior team from Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) to train AIFF affiliated Indian match officials.

IMG-Reliance & Star India, organizers of the Hero Indian Super League, have called upon 35 AIFF match officials including 12 referees, 13 assistant referees and 10 referee assessors, for a two day Referees’ Workshop to be conducted by PGMOL officials in Mumbai starting 29th April 2015.

The PGMOL team is led by Mr. Mike Riley, General Manager, PGMOL, FIFA Referee Committee Member and a former PGMOL Select Referee. Joining him for the workshop are Mr. Ray Olivier, Training and Development Manager, PGMOL and an instructor on AFC courses and Mr. Philip Dowd, PGMOL Select Referee.

The PGMOL Group was formed in 2001 to improve refereeing standards in England and is headed by Mr. Riley. The group manages referee appointments across all the Premier League, The Football League (Championship, League One, League Two) and The FA competitions. PGMOL plays an active role in the development of refereeing by working with referees across the world.

The Hero ISL Referee Workshop will consist of both theory and practical sessions covering varied topics related to match officials, referee training structure, referee assessment methods etc with an endeavor to learn and improve the overall structure and the management of development of referees in India.
