People see only the glamorous aspect of a sportsperson not realizing the pain with which they go through. The role of football clubs such as Liverpool Homeless Football Association (LHFA) and the HFA has been huge for this talented football player. As many as a few thousands of people in the age group of 15-30 are homeless in the UK alone. The game of football is helping these homeless people to carve a niche for themselves and make it big in the realm of sports. Probably such an initiative is the first of its kind in Europe.

Homeless World Cup Football Tournament

The world cup Football is known to everybody but only a handful of people all across the globe actually know about Homeless Football World Cup. It is played with the motive to bring an end to the global problem of homelessness through Football. Homeless World Cup Organization is the chief patron of the event.

This tournament takes place every year and homeless people throughout the world participate in it. At present this tournament is played by the homeless people from more than 70 nations including India. The last edition of the tournament was held in 2014 in Chile.

James Buckley: An Inspirational Figure

This English player’s life has never been a short of despair and depression. His not-so-well personal life has turned him homeless few years back when he was in his youth hood. But the mid fielder never lost hope. He knew about his capabilities well. He participated at the Homeless WC 2011 in Paris and represented England as well. He thanked Crewe Hostel for the continuous support rendered to him. Since then he never looked back. Now he is aiming to become a full time coach for an English club.

He reminded one of the interesting anecdotes that how the underprivileged players from Africa were too delighted to receive the spare training and sports kit from him a few years back which they can’t afford to buy from market otherwise at a high price.

The Homeless Football Association of UK is Spreading Smiles

We know sports bring smiles to our faces but we had never imagined that it could directly transform the lives of around a million people. UK leads the front with an astute example. The homeless FA is not like any other sports organization. In fact it directly transforms the lives of the underprivileged people through the goodness of Football.

The association grooms young talents through its unique training programs and empowers the homeless youth of the UK with necessary skills, talents and abilities to live a dignified life and earn a livelihood as well.
