Gujarat Lions has only 14.35 crores to spend on the players which include 6 overseas players.  The player auction was supposed to happen on 4th February but the Supreme Court decision removing its president Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke on January 2nd led to delay of the auction. Kevin Pietersen has pulled out of IPL 2017 due to hectic schedule.

Many top players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who were part of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be included in the draft. The other big players of CSK and Rajasthan Royals (RR) which might be included in capped players draft are Suresh Raina, Brendon McCullum, Steve Smith, Shane Watson, James Faulkner and Sanju Samson.

Pune and Rajkot franchises are allowed to pick 5 best players from the suspended Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals teams that will happen at Bandra Kurla Complex clubhouse this Tuesday.

The capped players of the two new franchises will be paid Rs. 12.5 crore. The two new franchises can pick top 5 players while the rest will include uncapped players.

This will be the last IPL season before teams overhaul their player rosters for 2018 and beyond. All existing player contracts will expire after IPL 10 and most players – apart from those the franchises are allowed to retain – will have to go into the auction ahead of the 2018 season.
