Happy Birthday Boom Boom Afridi

March 1 will be a special day for the Pakistani skipper Boom Boom Afridi. Celebrating his birthday amidst the World Cup 2011 is a spurt of variety of emotions.

Afridi, nicked with a peculiar name, ‘Boom Boom’ is an all-rounder cricketer. He is well known in the international circuit since the last fifteen years. Wild batsman, aggressive bowler with distinctive records of having smashed most number of sixers in the ODIs and the maximum wicket taker in the T20 series adds to his credits.

Leading the team in the World Cup is a herculean task. Currently Pakistan is the team with maximum net run rate, up in the Group Table. A maximum point of 4 is also clinched by his team, Australia being the other team.

His concept of playing the game seems very ‘cool’. Afridi never seems to lose temper on the pitch, not even a micro-expression on his face. He plays his game naturally with a ‘cool dude’ attitude.

Indeed there is no pressure on him to trade off on celebrating his birthday as the matches are only on March, 3, 2011. For a team that defeated Sri Lanka, Canada should be a ‘jolly ride’.

Happy Birthday Mr. Boom Boom Afridi!

On the same day, was born his pal, fellow cricketer, Abdur Rehman. He is tagged as an ‘orthodox’ bowler for his sublime bowling skills. Very few appearances made in the international chain, yet this chap has got the name by pulling out the wickets. Not a good established batsman but when it comes to stumping and catches, he becomes an avatar. Naturally very timid player, his name hits the Pakistan Cricket Squad last.
