Jose Mourinho hints at a return to the EPL

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has once again openly proclaimed his love for English football and has reiterated his desire to return to England.

A day after reports regarding Pep Guardiola’s possible move to the English Premier League surfaced,  Mourinho, in a message recorded to mark the Football Association’s 150th Anniversary, said  he still cherished the years he had spend in England and hoped to return soon.

“My memories from English football could not be better. It was my first experience outside of Portugal – I was still a very young coach when I left Portugal to go to England.”

“But there couldn’t be a better place to go. In England you feel the real passion for the game. In England, it’s not just about passion for clubs, it’s mainly about passion for football – and you feel it”, he said.

“Of course, it’s impossible, but I feel everybody involved in the game should experience English football because it’s a special feeling. You really enjoy being a football professional there.

“But I know that one day I will come back because English football means a lot to myself”, the Portuguese added.

After guiding Porto to a Champions League win in 2004, Mourinho arrived at the Stamford Bridge and successfully led Chelsea to two Premier League titles, two League Cups and an FA Cup before he went on to join the Italian Club Inter Milan in 2008 where he won the Serie A and UEFA Champions League among other Italian honours. In 2010, he won the FIFA Ballon d’Or for the Best coach and then started his career in Spain with giants Real Madrid and won the La Liga last season.

But Mourinho has been under fire in the recent months with Real Madrid reeling 18 points behind the table-toppers Barcelona at the La Liga half way stage. His fallouts with the Spanish media and differences with a few players have made things difficult for him at Bernabeu and the controversial decision to drop Captain Iker Casillas has also drawn some flak from fans and players alike.  Chances are that he may leave Real at the end of this season and his proclamation of a possible return to the Barclays Premier League has only fueled the doubts

Besides the obvious contender Chelsea, Manchester United may also be interested in signing Mourinho. Apart from the EPL clubs, The German side Paris Saint-Germain is also speculated to have an interest in the 49 year old.
