Red Bull expects 2016 to be a ‘season of two halves’

Red Bull Racing is trying to recover from a miserable 2015 season where they failed to win a single race. Moreover, they were seen engaging in a fierce verbal spat with their engine manufacturer Renault for the poor performance.

Red Bull expects 2016 to be a ‘season of two halves’

Christian Horner, Red Bull team boss anticipates now that in 2016, the new Renault contract and engine would create for the team, a ‘season of two halves’. He added to that saying that the first half would be less competitive as compared to the second one.

Horner said, “I believe it will be a transformational year. I think we are going to start the year with some progress from the end of last season, but I think our engine partner’s commitment to buying a team will see staged progress during the course of the year.”

Christian Horner said that the team is working hard and is determined to fight back to the top position. Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo said that he will adopt a less attacking approach in 2016 in an attempt to improve the team’s performance. His aim is to finish on the podium positions rather than just gather gathering points for the team.

Renault after a tensed year, littered with engine failures and poor race results with Red Bull, has still managed to negotiate a new contract with the team with a new sponsor in the form of TAG Heuer instead of Infiniti. Renault would be assisted in its development by the British company IImor which previously was a consultant for Red Bull on their engine design. Renault is expected to perform better this year after buying out the Lotus Formula One racing team.
