How Jurgen Klopp is transforming Liverpool?

How Jurgen Klopp is transforming Liverpool?

It has been 25 years since ‘The Reds’ last won the league and since then, a lot happened at Anfield. A string of special and not-so-special managers inherited the sceptre, including the Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish for a second time. Rafa Benitez guided them to Champions League glory in Istanbul. Kopp’s utmost loved player retired from the club. Yet, the most prized possession in English football stayed away from them. And it still is. Leaving one of the greatest club in world football lingering in the tunnel for light. Brendan Rodgers almost succeeded in showing the way to glory. But ‘almost’ is never a silverware.

But now has come the time, it is rightful to believe so, for a new dawn to margin at the Anfield. Jurgen Klopp has taken over the charge of Liverpool and has transformed the ‘mid-table’ Reds into title challengers. Under Klopp, Liverpool as managed to nullify the lack of confidence in them and have already beaten Chelsea, Manchester City and Southampton in emphatic fashion, all the wins coming away from home. Here are four talking points that could prove Liverpool is nailing something incredible this season, and in upcoming seasons under Klopp.

Klopp is bringing back the lost belief

Since a decade, Liverpool has never been as confident as they are under Klopp, expect for a short tenure under Rodgers. The evidences are genuine that he is turning it around. The number of tackles made per game, aerial duals won, pass completion, Chances created has increased since Klopp took over. The players like Emre Can, Lovren, Joe Allen and Alberto Moreno has found new composure and capability under Klopp, not to mention the phenomenal rise of Origi who netted a hat-trick against Southampton.

Klopp knows the importance of Pace and Elasticity

The game against Chelsea and Manchester city contradicted Liverpool’s style of play where both times, it resulted in favour of Liverpool. Against Chelsea, Liverpool were defiant and ruthless. They didn’t turn off the engine after they scored the second goal. They changed the way of their game to score a third that guaranteed them the victory. And against City, they simply unleashed the pace whereas Milner and Can ensured they don’t hold back that prowess, for city to make a comeback. Yes, Klopp knows.

Klopp knows his players

Deploying a player in his most preferred position is an art that every manager should have. Klopp has it. Emre Can mostly played in the right-back or a centre-back position last season and Klopp has revolutionised him by using him in the midfield, his preferred position. Same interpretation goes for Coutinho and Origi.

Klopp knows defence is the key

Keeping clean sheets were one among many unsolved problems Liverpool have faced over years. Even though it is too early to assess, Klopp has found how to cover the leaky defence. Lovren and Moreno has splendidly working out in breaking the counter attacks, the most difficult tasks for a defender. Stats say Liverpool has managed to break 3.94 counter attacks per game where it was only 1.97 under Rodgers.

All of a sudden, Liverpool are in the mix for a top-four finish and silverware in Klopp’s first season. Pundits can say its ‘new manager syndrome’ or one-season-wonder. But Kopp knows and believes, it is not.
