Cricket at Durban, tennis in Chennai and cycling in Mumbai! India’s first ever cycling tour is scheduled this February 11.

Who is in?

The cycling legend, the man known for his self-confidence, determination and victory the seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong. His team will be riding at this event.

International riders are anticipated to compete at the second edition of Tour de Mumbai commencing at Nashik.

The organizers of this event, Union Cycliste Internationale, Cycling Federation of India stated that the first leg would be covering 158 kilometers and the second leg will be finishing with 117 kilometers.

Eminent riders

The star team, Armstrong’ team RadioShack which emerged as winners at 2010 Tour de France and Italy’ Liquigas.

The “cyclothon”

At the Tour de Mumbai it is expected to include cyclothon events for children and adults to attract the localities. The main goal of cyclothon is to add a new dimension to the cricketmaniac India as well as to create the need to shift to greener fuels.

For the population who worry about their health this is a clarion call for maintaining their fitness.

Why India?

The country with many diversities and great potential is considered to be a good location to propel this event. Internationally it is foreseen that India could be counted upon for its raring to go participants and sponsors.

Argentina’s Juan Jose Haedo, from Team Saxo Bank, won the inaugural Tour de Mumbai last year to pick up the 50,000 dollars in prize money.

So if you are in Mumbai next month, watch the superhero Lance cycle and also contribute some of your calories to cyclothon!
