Pawar Pronounces Wankhede Stadium To Be Ready For World Cup

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 is just 30 days away. It will be hosted in the subcontinent by India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. And, we are all wish for enhanced facilities during the championship for the spectators. All eyes will be on India and how it will manage the huge responsibility. On Wednesday, the ICC President Sharad Pawar told that the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is fully ready for the upcoming World Cup.

“We completed the World Cup stadium and we will enjoy the Wankhede Stadium, much improved with various other facilities. It was the emergency, which we have a habit to deal (with) emergency,” Pawar told reporters at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). His presence here was for marking the 30 days countdown to the trophy. He also displayed the coveted tournament’s trophy here.

Pawar said he is totally confident that the visitors would be more than happy with the facilities provided. “I am absolute confident, the team which is going to visit, will be happy. For all practical purpose, for all matches, stadium ground, everything will be absolutely ready. The visitors will be extremely happy after visiting the stadium,” he added.

The World Cup kicks off on 19 February. India will play Bangladesh in this opener. We will witness 14 teams instead of 16 in this tenth World Cup. And, in the revised format we will see each team playing least 6 matches even if they ruled out of tournament due to early defeats. Bangladesh will be for the first time co-hosting a World Cup. India will be hosting 29 of the total 49 planned matches. And, the final is going to be played at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai!! I wish good luck for India to prepare and host the trophy well!
