The 4th match of the 7th match ODI series between England and Australia is finally looking alive. The first three matches of this series were buzz

Killing to say the least since England was whitewashed.

Australia bouncing back just a few weeks before the World Cup isn’t something everyone wants to see, least of all England who has always been worthy competition to Australia.

England finally won a match ending the losing streak in Adelaide by 21 runs and so now the series is positioned at 3-1.

England won the toss and chose to bat first, Skipper Andrew Strauss got out to Brett Lee on making just 8 runs of 10 balls.

Opener Matt Prior who is continuing his good form from the Ashes series made 67 runs of 58 balls and was dismissed by Steven Smith.

Jonathan Trott makes a smashing 102 runs of 126 balls which resulted in England’s ultimate victory; however his wicket was claimed by David Hussey who incidentally took 4 wickets in 21 runs.

Kevin Pietersen got out cheaply to Steven Smiths ball making only 12 runs of 13 balls. Ian Bell fell on a duck to the delivery of Steven Smith yet again.

Eoin Morgan made a reasonable 24 runs of 31 balls; Paul Collingwood made 27 runs of 27 balls and Ajmal Shahzad made a measly 4 runs of 5 deliveries and all three were dismissed by David Hussey.

Michael Yardy made an important 39 runs of 27 balls and Chriss Tremlett made nothing on facing 1 delivery, both were not out by the end of the 50 overs. England ends up making a stellar 299 runs, a very good total and difficult to chase to be done in 5.98 runs per over.

Australia’s openers looked promising from the word go, Shane Watson making 64 runs of 72 balls, his wicket was claimed by Ajmal Shahzad, second opener Brad Haddin made a not so penetrating 20 runs of 16 balls, his wicket was taken by Chris Tremlett. Shaun Marsh did visibly nothing, just 1 run of 6 deliveries on a caught and bowled by James Anderson.

Michale Clarke made 15 runs of 27 balls he was dismissed by Paul Collingwood so the pup exits and now there is little Australia can do having lost the entire top order, winning seemed like an impossibility from that point on.

Cameron White made a worthy 44 runs of 64 balls, a good score for any other day except that day because only a century or larger partnerships would work, ultimately he was dismissed by Jonathan Trott. David Hussey does damage with the ball but not so much with the bat making 28 runs of 34 balls, again Jonathan Trott was responsible for this wicket.

John Hastings made 1 run of 3 balls was dismissed by James Anderson, it seemed like it was going to be all downhill from that point. But Steven Smith and Brett Lee gave a thrilling end, Smith making 46 runs of 47 balls and Lee making 39 runs of 32 balls almost taking Australia all the way but falling short of 21 runs at their end of the 50 overs.

Man of the match was awarded to Jonathan Trott for his century and was well deserved as Trott single handedly stole the match from Australia.

Now that the series is exciting again, here’s hoping the next few matches are as promising as this one was.
