Mumbai, Feb 05: The last World Cup will obviously be not forgotten by all the players especially who were part of that disaster outbreak. The 2007 debacle is still very fresh in the minds of the Indian fans and the former captain believes that 2011 WC is a great chance to correct the mistakes that they made previously. “India has got this opportunity yet again and certainly they will be very keen to do well this time,” said Dravid on Thursday night after receiving Ceat Cricket Rating World Cup Retro award for his 1999 show.

Dravid’s star studded team collapsed in the 2007 WC being played in West Indies and were knocked out in the first round itself shaming the nation. Many believed that India was trapped deeply as it is not easy to comeback when you lose the game in the group stage itself. India shockingly lost against Bangladesh and then was sent off home by Sri Lanka in the second game. Dravid is happy and welcomed the 2011 WC format and said that “I wish if it was there in 2007.” The Royal Challengers Bangalore legend rated Indian team as the favourites to win the WC this time.

“It’s a well balanced side with multi options of all rounder or part timers which gives team to play an extra batsman,” said Dravid. Dravid also added that the home conditions will be very good advantage for the team and the no 2 team in the world rankings will certainly up for the challenge. Dravid feels that the pure spinners like Ashwin and Piyush can be surprise package in the tournament.

Author:

Hello everyone this is Ronak Parekh and I’m currently student of S.Y.B.M.M. I’m 20 years old from Mumbai. I choose my career in B.M.M because I always wanted to do something which is of my interest. And my passion has always been sports especially cricket and F1. I really want to be linked with sports in my future. B.M.M course gives the opportunity in journalism from where I can move to sports category. When I was child I always used to play and watch cricket a lot which usually most of the people does. I gained my interest in F1 due to only one man and that was none other than seven time world champion Michael Schumacher. Actually I’m also very passionate about cars so it is really fun when I see this sport. Today I’m really excited about getting an opportunity to do internship for three months with the sports mirror, where I will have full freedom to express my views and opinions regarding every sport. I definitely will try my best to write the articles as good as possible which would be worth interesting for readers. I really whole heartedly thanking the sports mirror again for giving me this vital opportunity and I promise I will make the most of it.
