All Work And No Play Makes MS Dhoni A Tired Man

Captain of the Indian Cricket team M S Dhoni seemed to have put his foot in his mouth. He passed a controversial comment relating to the schedule of the World Cup and it’s warm up matches saying it was tiring or causing fatigue.

This statement made by M S Dhoni had a prompt reply from the BCCI (Board of control of Cricket in India) saying if he was so tired then maybe he should skip the IPL. There was no way the BCCI was going to let that one slide, Dhoni asked for it and he got it.

However, the second warm up match close by, Dhoni replied back saying he was referring to the mental fatigue not the physical one. His implications were regarding the poor performance by the batsman in the warm up match between India and Australia. He said “its bit of a headache, we have talent, but even today we got just two good scores from our batsmen, and lost too many wickets in the middle. We have to quickly sort this out”.

It would seem as if he was making excuses but many would go deeper as to say maybe captain cool has started a few mind games of him own. We have all seen the likes of Graeme Smith and various others picking India as their favourites for the World Cup, a touching emotion but too blatantly obvious with respect to the motive.

So M S Dhoni has possibly decided to keep all the expectations low for the fans and most importantly for the other participating teams. We all know very well how casual the attitude is playing against an underdog, owing to the fact that India has lost that “Advantage” this just may be Dhoni’s play to shift focus and show a weak exterior and interior to the side.

Either way, whether it works on his opponents we don’t know, perhaps they like us have deduced the same thing, irrespective, M S Dhoni quite possibly has a reason for saying what he said.

The confusion relating to the side regarding Virat Kohli, Yusuf Pathan and Suresh Raina is quite an easy one. Raina is the only one who hasn’t performed that well especially in comparison with the other two, so it was an easy choice.

So, India’s next warm up match with New Zealand will hopefully shed some light on the batting order.

Going back to the point, fatigue is fatigue irrespective if it’s mental or physical, if Dhoni actually meant what he said then he has no business playing for money, and if he’s playing, well then, no harm in trying mind games is there?
