The God Loves… (Part – 2)

Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar

A long break from the articles put me in a quarry as to write the second installment of “The Chit Chat Club” or “The God Loves… (Part – 1)”. Had it been the former, the profile would be that of Navjot Sidhu which was not a whit inspiring.

Choice-less, left with the “Sachin’s Likes”, here the roller-coaster goes!

The second episode will be what great people said about Sachin Tendulkar and his interests too.

1.    If I call Bradman the God of Cricket, then Sachin to be his incarnation. He once told his wife to look at the TV (1996 World Cup) in which Sachin was playing; she commented that their styles of striking, swiftness, stroke lags so much gel with each other. It was then Sir D. G. Bradman assumed, Sachin to be his contemporary embodiment.

2.    Sachin’s favorite year in the career would be the year he scored wildly, nine centuries, 900 runs. It is so close to impossible, comes the icing on the cake, he scored 3 centuries in final events in a row. It was the year to brag about for the Indian team, more than a decade ago it happened where, he was instrumental in making India win all but one tournaments. Nuclear Science is not a big deal at all, from where Sachin gets all this energy (not Boost for certain) is a million dollar question.

3.    The team Yorkshire is very much close to his heart. He was the only professional from overseas to play to them, it also happened that he was a mediocre and averaged to a score of 40. What created a love for that team, are the accolades he received, the recognition he won – “The Cricketer of the Year”.

4.    He likes batting? There is speculation that Sachin loved to become a fast bowler, half-mindedly he chose to be a batsman. Thank God! That he chose to be a batsman contrast to his boyhood dreams.

5.    This made me chuckle, this is not from the Like Bucket of Sachin, but from the super-natural array of his fans.
Literature showed that Sachin become ‘The God’ only on days of Indian festivals. All the big figured he has in his kitty are from the days when he played on Holi, Diwali, so on. (I don’t think there is any festival on April 2.)

He loves the movie Deewar!
