Reminiscence – 1

Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar

Hello Pals! This post is in seven installments of the benchmark achievements (not exactly) or the most memorable innings of Sachin Tendulkar, the one-in-century player!

Don’t ask why seven, it is just a figure, if it has to be numbered; it should be equal to number of fans of Sachin, which is in billions!

Here revs up the installment number – 1!

When it was the time of the Retro-Indian Team, my favorite (though not watched many of the matches) the team of 1994, it was March 1994, precisely, there was a match between India and New Zealand at Auckland.

Why is this remarkable one? Any great hits, any accolades, any turning point in Sachin’s career? May be the last one be right.

What is the biggest waste of a resource? It is sending the best striker in the number 5 or 6. Yes! It was Sachin playing in the order 5 or 6 all through the days until March 1994 at Auckland; this was his first match as the opening striker.

This gets more interesting and thrilling rather.

Sachin felt that his potential will be the best if he is opening the match and he felt that he has been wasted, in all his seventy odd matches in the past.

“Here I come!” went the frustrated Little Master to his Captain and the Coach and made a deal.

“Let me open the match, if I fail, I shall not come to you asking for anything” said Sachin.

Sachin came on the pitch and played violently, the vow was in his mind, the urge to achieve!

A blazing 82 off 49 balls (15 fours and 2 sixes).

Since then the world has been witnessing this legend shoot off the game with his swift movements of the willow.

He made it and the world still sees it.
