What They Said On Winning The ICC World Cup?

World Cup

World Cup

As India clinched the World Cup the feel of ecstasy rose in every Indian. The Indian team which did it for the nation was on the seventh cloud. The emotion as we all saw was irrepressible. Many players were seen shedding tears – the tears of joy! This eternal bliss leaded to even the impassive Indian players speak their heart out. And, these quotes will go on to be etched in the Indian closet of glory forever!

Let’s have a look at some of sentiments which buzzed out almost unknowingly from these classy Indian players!

Let’s start with the man who deserved to win the title more than anyone else. The whole team dedicated this win to him – The God Sachin Tendulkar. Although, he takes backstage and is not known for showcasing his emotion on the field, it was not the case this time around!

“”I couldn’t have asked for anything more than this. Winning the World Cup is the proudest moment of my life. Thanks to my team-mates. Without them, nothing would have happened. I couldn’t control my tears of joy!”

MS – the backbone of Indian success is known for his cool as a cucumber attitude. Here’s what he said””I took a quite few decisions tonight, if we hadn’t won I would have been asked quite a few questions: Why no Ashwin, why Sreesanth, why no Yuvraj, why did I bat ahead?! That pushed me and motivated to do well.”

Yuvi who was the man of tournament and very important in this win said, “”This is unbelievable. The Under-19 World Cup, then the World Twenty20 but this is the most special. For Sachin, for everyone else.”

Gauti who played the match winning 97 run innings and fared extremely well on big occasions said, “”All credit goes to Sachin Tendulkar. We played for him. Beating Australia and Pakistan and now this, it’s a dream come true.”

The emotional Bhajji who played the key spinners role in the team said,”It means the world to me. I have been part of the three World Cups. This is for the nation. Thank you very much, we love you. This cup is for the people. Love you India!”

Kirsten the Indian coach – the man who did it exceptionally well from behind looked very assertive and confident! He said,”I felt we were going to do this thing. And to the point the day before the final we knew were going to win. We actually even spoke about it. That we were going to win this thing. It is how we prepare to deal with the success because we are going to win. There was never any doubt at that stage.”

The Best of all for me was Kohli who summed it up,”This goes out to all the people of India. This is my first World Cup; I can’t ask for more. Tendulkar has carried the burden of nation for 21 years; It was time we carried him. Chak de India!”
