Michael Owen, Manchester United’s striker has admitted that he is indeed dreaming to score a winning goal for United in the Champions League Finale.

The striker also stated that he will not be embarrassed with the League Title medal despite warming the bench for most of the matches. The English International has started only once in the entire season. The striker has been sidelined for most of the matches, as Berbatov, Rooney and the young Mexican talent Hernandez looks in great form.

However, United’s habit of scoring late goals have motivated him that he can play a key role in the chase for a double this season. Owen’s stoppage time winner against their rivals, Manchester City, will always be remembered.

Owen stated “Even if it is just one goal or one good performance, everyone is going to play their part.”

“I was in the stand on Tuesday against Schalke. You are feeling sorry for yourself thinking I would like to be on the pitch or on the bench.”

“Next to you is Wes Brown, who has dozens of England caps and John O’Shea, who has got even more for the Republic of Ireland. Darron Gibson is also an international. “They are not even getting stripped. That tells you everything about the squad of players we have got.”

Owen admitted that the very thought of scoring the winning goal in the Champions League for United keeps him motivated at the training session.

He further added “I suppose I am dreaming of coming off the bench and scoring the stoppage-time winner in the Champions League final. That is the motivation that drives me on. Every day I have to be ready and prepared to come in and do something.”

The striker maintains his statement stating that he will not be embarrassed to receive the Winners medal if United clinch the Title. Owen said “But there is no point being embarrassed about accepting something you have been part of. I didn’t get two medals for scoring two goals in the FA Cup final in 2001.”

“I have won plenty in my career but I have not won the two big ones. That would complete the set.”However he further added “There is still quite a way to go, so let’s hope there is something to pick up at the end of the season.”

Owen has appeared only 9 times for United and have scored only once against the Bolton Wanderes. He has scored 13 goals in his 37 appearances for United since his arrival at Old Trafford in 2009 from Newcastle. Owen might be the 4th choice striker for Ferguson, but can play a very decisive role in United’s upcoming matches. Who knows then, what is in store for United. A winner might be heading the Owen’s way.
