Manchester United Keeper Kuszczak Threatens Old Trafford

Thomas Kuszczak – Manchester United

Thomas Kuszczak, Manchester United stopper has revealed that he will be forced to quit if he does not get a chance to feature as the 1st choice goalkeeper next season. The Polish International also blamed the national coach, Frantisek Smuda, for not including him in the Poland squad due to indifferences between the two.

Thomas Kuszczak has been the second choice goalkeeper behind Van Der Sar for the past four seasons at the club. However, now with the retirement of the veteran goalkeeper, Kuszczak is the senior most goalkeeper with the Red Devils.

However, Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea has been heavily linked with United with a possible move to Old Trafford this summer. If this happens, it will be again a bench-warming situation for the Polish International as the Atletico stopper will take the honours of playing the in the 1st eleven.

Kuszczak stated “For me it is very clear either I play in goal for Manchester United, or I leave the club.”

He also stated that Sir Alex Ferguson has not discussed anything regarding the extension of his current United contract to which he later admitted that it has left him aggravated.

He said “No, he’s not said anything about a new contract. He tells me nothing. I don’t know what to think. I have some ideas; we’ll see.”

“I think I will stay in England. I’ve been there for seven years. My qualities are known there.”

Adding to all this, the goalkeeper also expressed his frustration on not being considered for selection this time around. He said “It’s just because of a disagreement with Coach Frantisek Smuda. Me, I want to play and I’ve told him and he’s not called me.”

It is time for the Polish International to cool down and wait for a while and see what happens next. However, his frustration is not unacceptable. Being warming the bench for four years and then again a possibility of sitting out again will leave any player disgusted. Despite all this, he needs to think before taking any further big step as he knows what it takes to be at Manchester United.
