Dropping Dravid Proves Costly

Dropping Dravid proves costly

It would not be wrong to say that Rahul Dravid probably single handedly turned around the tables in India’s favor. The home side has to chase over 300 to win, which is a near impossible task.

India eventually wiped the whole West Indies team, winning by 63 runs. Ishant Sharma and Praveen Kumar took three wickets each as the spinners also did a very good job keeping the batsmen in check.

Daren Sammy dropped a simple catch of Rahul Dravid, in the second innings when he had just come out to bat and the sore read 14/1. Dravid went on to score a century and helped India set a mammoth 326 runs for the West Indies to win the test match.

Darren Sammy said he couldn’t sleep a whole night in the ongoing first cricket Test. The dropped catch of Dravid that turned the tide in favor of India was too haunting for him, and understandably so.

On the other hand, Rahul Dravid said it was tough adjusting to the conditions against the West Indies. Scoring his 32nd test ton was not easy and was physically very demanding for him. Arriving from India few days ago and not playing the ODI series meant that he had little time to get used to the weather and time difference and understand the conditions and pitch.

Playing his natural game and showing us and the critics why he is nick named “The Wall”  he went on to  scored 112 runs to get India back on top in the match. He kept his cool and played a typical Dravid innings. He stuck on the crease and one could see the amount of determination n grit with which he batted.

This has to be taken as a great example for all the young players how to develop the right attitude and temperament towards the game and no one else can teach you better than Rahul Dravid.
