Tiger Woods likely to skip British Open

Tiger Woods, who didn’t participate in this month’s US Open with leg injuries, said that he was not sure whether he would be fit and ready to play in the British Open which will take place on 14th -17th July. Woods haven’t had much golfing action this season, said it was too early to determine whether he would be physically ready for the British Open at Royal St. George’s, which is the third major championship of the year.

Woods, the 14 times major winner hurt his left knee ligaments and Achilles tendon while he was playing in the Masters in April. From then he has not played since pulling out of the Players’ Championship on May 12 after playing just nine holes. He also added that he made a mistake by participating in the Players Championship five weeks after he hurt himself at the Masters. He also said that if he had not played that tournament he would have been fit until now.

Woods, who is now 35, is not unknown to injuries. Has come back from injuries before and explained how he worked his way back after knee surgery after the 2008 US Open, where he beat Rocco Mediate in a playoff. Tiger has recovered from four knee surgeries over the years. But this time, he did not have to go under the knife. The former world number 1 told that it would be disappointing if he could not be ready for the British Open, but also stressed that there is no timetable for his return as he is focusing on getting fully healthy.

Woods had a turbulent past few years where he faced serious family problems and also suffered injuries. His performances on the court were not up to the mark either. The world will be hoping that the fully fit Tiger will weave his magic again on the golf course.
