Veteran Formula One driver, Michael Schumacher dismissed rumors about his retirement from Formula One (again), after the current season ends. There were reports that he may be leaving Formula One after the completion of the 2011 season, based on his poor run in the Mercedes since he joined the German team last year.

Michael Schumacher to continue in 2012

Schumacher has joking stated that despite rumors of his exit, people will have to see him in the 2012 season, whether they liked it or not. He has been over shadowed by his younger team mate Nico Rosberg, who has been performing better than the seven time world champion. Schumacher’s best performance has been fourth place in the Canadian Grand Prix.

There was a time when he was regarded as one of the best all time drivers. He holds many of the formula’s driver records, including most championships, race victories, fastest laps, pole positions, points scored and most races won in a single season. Having won the last of his seven titles in 2004, he announced his retirement from Formula One driving in 2006. He was still associated with the sport, mostly with Ferrari as a consultant.

He then made a decision to come back to Formula One with an all-German Mercedes team.  He is keen on remain in Formula One now as a driver. He has said that he would see how things develop and how much energy and fun there is. He has accepted the fact that he is not driving a very fast car and probably can’t compete with the top teams of McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull. But he still is determined to continue with Mercedes team for next year as well.
