No good deed ever goes unpunished and under speculation as well. Daniel E. Doyle, Jr. who is the founder of a nonprofit sport institute: Institute for International Sport, in undergoing major scrutiny, in Rhode Island, on the organization’s usage and availability of funds over the years.

The institute has been running for over 25 years now and has nurtured thousands of young sportsmen and women to come together and gain benefits. It is most popular for the World Scholar-Athlete Games where hundreds of young talent come together and showcase their talent and ability. There have been several celeb as well as political personals who have come as guest speakers and honored the event, including former President Bill Clinton.
It has been said that millions of dollars have been invested in the organization when the whole of the foundation was unstable to begin with. After some shocking revelations on the founder’s usage of funds, Daniel E. Doyle, Jr. is now under investigation.
The investigation by the State Police started when it came to attention that from the year 1988 to 2011, the non profit received more than $7 million and in 2007, they constructed a building for over $575,000. The building is on the University of Rhode Island campus and has no heat, plumbing, or electricity.
Not only this but the debts are huge and mounting on the institution. It owed URI $380,846 in unreimbursed payroll expenses and other related costs.
As of now, there have been no comments or statements issued by Doyle and there has been no return of messages or calls by his spokeswoman. Doyle himself was a college basketball player (Bates) and has changed the lives of thousands of players. In a time like this and under scrutiny by the State Police, Doyle is quiet on the issue.
He is known to be a charismatic and mesmerizing figure. He has touched several thousand lives and his work is both acknowledged and greatly appreciated. Even today he is associated with a get-going nature and one who sets goals and achieves them. Through popular connections and a greatly written college thesis, he got this institute started.
Former coaches, players and friends all seem to say just one thing: how sad and surprised they are by these current allegations because Doyle, according to them, is the most humble man.
Only further reports would get to the roots of the issue but Doyle better have a good explanation ready.
