Manchester City 0 – 3 Arsenal: An Action Packed Drama

Arsenal

Arsenal

The most coveted match for the fans was the Manchester City against Arsenal the match which was all supposed to be a tough battle seemed to be something different when it comes to score line of 3-0 win by the gunners. The match was completely dominated by the away side through out the game. It was all Gunner Day and came back to second position in the League table with 17 points ahead of United in goal difference.

The match was full of drama right from the whistle was blow with just seconds after the kick off Manchester city came close to scoring with David Silva trying to back flip the ball on the cross produced by Tevez who won the physical battle against Djourou but  resulted in nothing but an excellent save by Fabianski. This event made it very clear that city is out there to attack right from the start. Within a splash of minutes it was an utter disaster for the home team when the referee sent off there young defender Boyata because of a rough tackle on the Moroccan striker Chamakh  who was all clean open towards the goal. This way Manchester City played with just 10 men for 85 minutes.

Then later it was all a series of tough battles which produced a total of 5 yellow cards in the first half. The match was later on in complete dominance by the Gunners and then later all there chances created was converted into a goal by inform French midfielder Nasri who played an excellent link up play with Arshavin and scored a fantastic goal. Manchester City seemed to struggle with just 10 men but the City players where giving there heart out to build up an attack and created some nice counter attacks and a shot by the English right back Micah Richards was just inches away from the post.

The misery never seemed to end for the home side when a tackle by Kompany was directed towards the penalty spot and Arsenal got an opportunity to double the lead. The Arsenal skipper came forward and tried to score but thanks to some excellent save by the young City keeper Joe Hart. He managed to make the save which was no that low enough and kept City alive in the game. This incident never seemed to blow out Arsenals dominance and Arsenal kept on attacking and by the end of first half it was all good for Arsenal.

There dominance was continued even in the second half with some wonderful build up by Chamakh and Nasri created a shot from 12 yard for the skipper but it was again wonderful saved by the Joe Hart.

The city captain Tevez seemed to hobble a bit and this resulted in a substitution and the European cup hero Adebayor cam in for the Argentine. The coming of Adebayor seemed to create an immediate impact with City putting some good attacks for the first time in the second half. They even came close to scoring with a header by Adebayor just went over the cross bar and the wonderful shot by David Silva was saved brilliantly.

The gunners had no intentions to give up and they doubled there lead in 67th minute with Alexander song putting an thundering shot to the top corner from 14 yards out. The interception from Wayne Bridge led the ball directly to Song’s feet and he made no mistake.

With just 15 minutes left Mario Balotelli was brought in for Gareth Barry and made his premier league debut.  Just after his arrival he put on a nice ball for Adebayor but the efforts of Adebayor was again brilliantly saved by the Arsenal’s second choice keeper Fabianski.

The Arsenal never seemed to be comfortable with just a 2 goal need and there thirst for more goals resulted into a Goal from Nickolas Bendetner in the 88th minute who made a comeback to first team football after injury. He provided a cool finish for an excellent through ball from Nasri and sealed up a comfortable victory for the Gunners.

This would had been an huge boost for the Gunners after picking up an comfortable away win against the city and securing there spot to the second place. It would be all threat for Chelsea now with both Arsenal and Manchester United just 5 points behind them.
