In a surprise announcement by the BCCI, the board has announced the complete fixtures for the upcoming VIVO IPL 2017. The announcement came a few days before the start of the proposed India-Australia test series. Interestingly, this time the incumbent VIVO IPL 2016 winner Sunrisers Hyderabad will host the inaugural match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on April 5, 2017. It is the second time Hyderabad will host the championship opener after Deccan Charger’s victory on the third edition of the IPL played in 2010.

IPL 2017 Schedule and Fixtures with venue details

As per the BCCI schedule, around 60 matches will be organised with each team set to play 14 matches each. Out of each team’s participation at the matches – 7 of them will be played at their own backyard and the remaining 7 will be played at outside venues.

Last year, the VIVO IPL 2016 was a record breaking one with several Indian players finding them on records book. India’s ace batsman Rohit Sharma was particularly impressive last session as he hit five consecutive fifties in five matches – which is a record. Also, RCB captain Virat Kohli smashed two centuries in the last edition of the VIVO IPL which is the most by a captain in any single edition of the IPL.

Gautam Gambhir also made his entry into record books with 100 appearances as a captain. This was only the second time that a player managed as many appearances as a captain of an IPL team after MS Dhoni. The VIVO IPL 2017 will start from 5^th April onwards and will be concluded on 21^st May 2017 in Hyderabad after 47-day long extravaganza.
