Believe it or not, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) couldn’t win a single edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) ever. They reached into the finals of the tournament thrice in the year 2009, 2011 and 2016 respectively, but their dream to become an IPL champion is still not fulfilled. They have a galaxy of quality match winners present in their squad but somehow the team fails to act as a unit just when the team needed it most.

With this year’s VIVO IPL 2017 is set to inaugurate next month, the dashing RCB skipper Virat Kohli will certainly leave no stones unturned to ensure that his team becomes the IPL champion this year. But it won’t be easy for them.

There are a quite a few things that could act as the team’s strengths and weaknesses. Let’s take a look at them. Skipper Virat Kohli and Head Coach Daniel Vettori will have to draw a game plan and execute the same properly if they seriously wish to win VIVO IPL 2017 tournament beating all odds.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB): Strengths at a Glance

  • Team has a list of quality match winners in its side.
  • The team has big names like Shane Watson, Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and Ab De Villers in its squad.
  • Both Ab De Villers and Virat Kohli are in sublime forms these days. The same will get reflected in the upcoming IPL 10 as well.
  • This year, RCB has purchased the explosive English fast bowlers Tymal Mills for a whooping sum of around 12 crore INR. He will definitely do something magical this year.
  • The team has a good combination of spinners and fast bowlers too. Pawan Negi, Varun Aaron, Yuzvendra Chahal, Stuart Binny and S Aravind are a few strong bowlers from the domestic cricket. A few of them even have international experience too.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB): Weaknesses at a Glance

  • Big Blow to the team as Mitchell Starc set to miss the entire tournament due to an injury.
  • Last year, they had golden chance to win VIVO IPL 2016, but failed against the confident Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
  • Once top order fails, RCB middle order mostly get crumbled under pressure.
  • The team lacks a specialized internationally famed spinner in the team.
