WKL: Khalsa Warriors defeated Lahore Lions by 64-55




Bathinda, October 10: The second match of the day saw a neck to neck fight between the Khalsa Warriors and Lahore Lions where the Warriors defeated the Lions by 64-55. This is the second time Lahore Lions played against Khalsa Warriors in the Wave World Kabaddi League. Earlier also Khalsa Warriors defeated Lahore Lions in their first match played in New Delhi.

The first quarter of the 48th match of the Wave World Kabaddi League started with the toss winning for Lahore Lions. The Lions decided to raid first which was made by the captain Shafiq Ahmad Chisti which was successful for him. There was a tough tussle between both the teams however Khalsa Warriors were seen in full form. Star raiders Gagandeep Jogewal and Jasmanpreet Raju made 5 and 3 successful raids respectively while Satnam Sattu made 2 successful stops for Khalsa Warriors. Lahore Lions were no less and the star raiders Shafiq Ahmad Chisti and Mohammad Ramzan made 5 and 2 raids respectively but only one stop was made by Mohsin Wahla. However at the end of the first quarter Khalsa Warriors led the scoreboard with a score of 17-12.

The second quarter saw aggressive game. Both the teams were in great form. Jasmanpreet Singh and Manjot Singh Gill were the key raiders of Khalsa warriors. Captain of the day for Lahore Lions Shafiq Ahmad Chisti was brilliant with 5 effortless raids; Ramzan supported the raid line well with 2 raids. Injured Akmal couldn’t play to the best of his capabilities and was stopped 2 times. Lasada making a brilliant effort to stop to stop M. Ramzan and Gagan Jogewal stopped by Khaleel Ahmed in a deadly interlock were key moments of the quarter. Manjot from Khalsa Warriors played a focussed game and won 4 raids. In another interesting moment Bitta stopped Rehman Isteyaq in a forceful stop. Khalsa Warriors got a lead of 10 points at the end of second quarter and score was 34-24.

The third quarter started with much tension for Lahore Lions as they were lagging behind by 10 points. However Khalsa Warriors kept dominating the quarter with the help of excellent stops made by Jasmanpreet Raju and Manjot Singh with 5 and 4 raids respectively and one successful stop by Satnam Sattu. The Lahore Lions tried their best with good performances by Shafiq Ahmad Chisti and Akmal Dogar with 6 and 3 raids respectively. However at the end of the quarter Khalsa Warriors were leading the scoreboard by 11 points and final score of 48-39.

Khalsa Warriors continued amazing display of grit and team play. Lahore Lions did wonderful fight back but couldn’t overpower Khalsa Warriors. Lahore Lions felt the pinch of injury of their star raider Man of the Match for multiple matches Akmal Dogar. Chisti lead from the front. After neck to neck stiff competition where Khalsa Warriors won with a final score of 64-55.
