Parupalli Kashyap loses in the Semi-finals of Indonesian Open Super Series




The most disappointing match dawned upon P. Kashyap only to leave him upset. The world seeded12th P. Kashyap, after coming so close of winning the $800,000 Indonesian Open Super Series exits the tournament after losing its semi-final.

The 28 year old, Indian shuttler P. Kashyap’s marathon run to reach the finals of the $800,000 Indonesia Open Super Series 2015 was briefly ended by the Japan’s young, talented, dynamic and golden streaked hair shuttler Momota Kento. Momota is just 20 years old and has two times won the World Junior Championship. The match took place at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno stadium. The 2014 commonwealth gold medallist P. Kashyap was disappointed after making it so close yet so far as he had defeated the world no. one Chinese player Chen Long at the quarter-finals stage of this tournament.

He was the only hope remaining as World No. 1 Saina Nehwal who was seeded no. 2 in the Indonesian Open Super Series was ousted by Wang Shixian of China on Friday. India’s ace shuttler Saina had won this super series three times (In the year 2009, 2010 and 2012) before losing to It had come as a surprise when P. Kashyap had defeated world no. one Chen Long in Jakarta. But to his own disappointment P. Kashyap couldn’t make it through to reach the finals and lost to the Japanese 21-12, 17-21, and 19-21. This was the sixth semi-final of Super Series for P. Kashyap and the disappointment continues for him.

The Indonesian Open Super Series is an annual tournament which is organized by Persatuan Bulutangkis Seluruh Indonesia (PBSI) which is the governing body of badminton in Indonesia. This Super Series is held in Indonesia since 1982. In the year 2007 it became part of the Badminton World Federation and got the Premier Super Series status in 2011.

P. Kashyap trains under Gopichand Badminton Academy and is a 2012 Arjuna Award winner. Even after failing to reach the finals of this tournament, P. Kashyap thanked all his fans who supported him constantly via twitter.

Every player has his/her ups and downs. Injuries do hold them back. But what motivates them is their passion and hard-work towards their favourite sport. This Hyderabadi badminton player- P. Kashyap, a diligent sportsperson, has a long way to go to achieve his desired feat. Nothing is impossible in this world as long as you don’t give up!
