5 batsmen to watch out for in ICC World T20 2016




The T20 World Cup is approaching fast. This year the event will be hosted by India. The tournament is undoubtedly one of the most important event in cricket calendar and will attack lot of enthusiasm among spectators.

As teams prepare let us have a look at the top 5 batsmen to look out for in this edition of ICC World T20 2016:

#1 – Virat Kohli

He is one of the best batsman in the world right now. Currently ranked No. 1 in the ICC T20 Ranking, India will be banking of Kohli this win this edition of World Cup. He recently scored 199 runs in 3 match T20 series helping India clean sweep against Australia. His last 11 innings in T20Is, Kohli has scored 592 runs at 84.57 and a strike rate of 145, with eight 50-plus scores. Batting at No. 3 Kohli would be main man in batting department in India’s road to glory.

#2 – Martin Guptill

He has been best the T20 and ODI player this summer for New Zealand. He currently holds the record of highest individual score in World Cup and the second highest score in One Day Internationals of 237* runs scored against West Indies in 2015 World Cup. He also recently scored fastest 50 by New Zealander and second fastest overall against Sri Lanka which was broken by Colin Munro 20 minutes later in the same match. He is definitely playing best cricket of his life at the age of 29. He will be influential in New Zealand road to World Cup glory. He along with Williamson will form the crux of the batting for New Zealand after the retirement of their ODI captain Brendon McCullum.

#3 – Glenn Maxwell

The most dynamic batsman in modern day cricket Glenn Maxwell is certainly one of the best T20 batsman.  In 2011, he set the record for the fastest ever half-century in Australian domestic one day cricket, scoring 50 runs off 19 balls. He would be crucial in Australia’s chance to win their first T20 World Cup. Apart from his batting he can also provide spin bowling options which might prove handy in Indian conditions.

He is considered as the future of English Cricket. Root has been one of the most important players for England in all three formats of the game. His ability to strike the ball at quick rate makes him one of the batsmen to look out for this World Cup. #5 – Jos Buttler

One of the hardest hitting batsman in World Cricket, Jos Buttler has been backbone of England shorter form of the game.  He is termed as most destructive batsman in world cricket at this moment. His ability score quick runs late in the innings and his all-round abilities make him one of the most important players of England set up. He holds one of the unique records of scoring all his One Day hundreds in less than 100 balls. He has score 2250 runs in 129 T20 matches at a strike rate of 144.41.
